Markus Bangen is to become the new Chief Executive Officer of Duisburger Hafen AG. He will be responsible for managing the inland port from Dec. 1, 2021. Bangen succeeds Erich Staake, who is retiring. Bangen (born 1972) studied law and has been head of the legal department at the Port of Duisburg since 2000 and also of the human resources department since 2003. In 2008, he moved up to the Executive Board, where he was responsible not only for legal affairs and human resources but also for purchasing, industrial logistics, superstructure and terminals. As a logistics hub in Europe, the Port of Duisburg is an important part of the Chinese Belt and Road Initiative.
