Bernhard Bartsch has been Director External Relations at the Merics research institute in Berlin since May 1. He previously worked for eight years at the Bertelsmann Foundation as a senior expert for Asia. Bartsch has a background in journalism and was China correspondent for the Frankfurter Rundschau, among others.
