A small village of 700 people in southern China named Mililing has become a new pilgrimage destination. Mililing, which belongs to the small town of Wuchuan in Guangdong province, was unprepared for its sudden popularity. The village has no industry, many of its houses have already fallen into disrepair and the village committee’s only source of income to date has been renting out fishponds, earning the equivalent of around EUR 1,300.
