a plane crash is big news even when war and pandemic kill many people every day. Horror on a global scale does not supersede regional and personal tragedies. And we have learned to rely on the airplane as a safe means of transportation. All the greater the shock of seeing smoking debris on a mountainside. After all, in China we take the plane almost as often as a bus to cover the huge distances.
