Germany and China are celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations today. It also took 50 years for Germany to be represented by a female ambassador in Beijing for the first time. Patricia Flor is the first woman to hold the post, and from the very first days she has shown a somewhat different approach to the office than her predecessors: she is banking on more publicity, a feminist approach to foreign policy – and also more confrontation with the leadership of her host country.
