Dear reader,

China is and remains a country of superlatives and opportunities – also in climate policy: on the one hand, the largest coal consumer, on the other hand, champion in renewables. No other nation in the world has built as many wind turbines in recent years as China. One downside of the renewable energy source, however, is the costly recycling of the turbines. More and more turbines are getting on in years and have to be dismantled. The rotor blades in particular cause problems: they are made of composite materials that are very difficult to separate again.
