Porsche is celebrating its IPO today. It is the biggest since Telekom 25 years ago. In China, the brand is perceived very differently than in Germany: There, Porsches are seen less as sports cars and much more as luxury cars, as Christian Domke Seidel reports. The cars are bought much more often by women and young people than in the West. As for the major carmakers, China is also one of the most important individual markets for Porsche. A good third of its cars are sold in the People’s Republic. Trends from the People’s Republic could soon spill over onto the global market.
