Claus Kleber once described himself as a „news junkie.“ Especially in times of crisis, that’s an apt term. In the Table editorial team, we currently have to be careful not to fall asleep at night with our smartphones in our hands. Too much has been happening recently. Russia’s invasion of Ukraine is shaking things up. Our feature today highlights some of the upheavals: Suddenly, China is reselling liquefied natural gas imported from the U.S. to Europe, and even making a profit in the process – even though the People’s Republic itself is worried about energy security. This, in turn, is evidenced by the expansion of coal production in China. The goal: to become more independent of energy imports.
