Dear reader,

this week there is good news from China on the subject of climate protection. According to a group of well-known energy analysts, China could reach the peak of its CO2 emissions earlier than targeted in its own climate goals. Instead of 2030, this „peak“ could even be reached as early as 2025. The rapid expansion of renewable energies makes this possible. The prerequisite for this, however, is that energy consumption does not increase more than previously forecast. You can read about the other hurdles that China still has to overcome in our analysis today. Since China is the largest CO2 emitter in the world, a success of the country’s climate measures would be important for all of us.
