China is often criticized as one of the biggest climate sinners. And rightly so. And yet that is only one side of the coin. We have taken a look at the dark other side and show what dramatic consequences the People’s Republic is facing in the face of climate change : China is at risk of losing 20 percent of its harvests in the long term; and there will be drastic job losses that will result in huge financial losses. China and the major Co2 emitters of the political West must finally realize: In order to avert the worst consequences of the climate crisis, the People’s Republic is just as dependent on climate protection by other states as Western states are on China.
