In China circles, it is a joke that there is even a „five-year plan for wastewater“ – although this simply corresponds to reality. In climate policy, however, Beijing’s many plans currently represent more of a jungle than a clear roadmap. Christiane Kühl has analyzed the latest developments and explains why there are sometimes contradictions between the numerous plans. Overall, however, the trend in climate protection is pointing in the right direction. What is still missing, however, is a concrete upper limit for the emission of climate gases. This would send a clear signal to companies, local governments and society, say experts.
