Anybody wanting to use Huawei AI chips without US approval risks criminal prosecution. Washington seeks to prevent the international distribution of Chinese chips through a kind of global ban. The US Department of Commerce warned of the consequences for the „use of Huawei’s Ascend AI chips anywhere in the world.“ At the same time, the US government significantly relaxed the strict export controls for its own companies.
