At the end of the National People’s Congress in Beijing, the delegates passed the new version of a law regulating the authority of state bodies, giving the Communist Party more control over the State Council. In short: The Communist Party Central Committee, chaired by Xi as General Secretary, secures even greater influence over Premier Li Qiang’s cabinet.
