Race against censorship

Like here in London, solidarity with the protests in China was expressed in numerous cities around the world.

The protests against the strict Covid policy have begun to spread to smaller cities. The government in Beijing, on the other hand, remains silent. Its goal is to prevent large-scale protests by increasing censorship efforts. Whether someone has even heard of the protests is also a question of social background.

While images of the protests in China are a huge topic in German media, the Chinese government attempts to suppress them as best it can. So far, no report or commentary in the state media classifies the events according to the party line.
