Huang Kunming was often in the right place at the right time. He is part of the so-called „New Zhijiang Army“ – a lineup of prominent Chinese politicians who held posts in Zhejiang province between 2002 and 2007, when Xi Jinping was forging alliances for his rise there during his time as Zhejiang Party Secretary. Four of them now sit on the Politburo, the 25-member power center of the Communist Party of China. Among them is Huang Kunming, whom Xi also made Propaganda Chief, a post with little publicity but enormous importance and power.
