Didi Chuxing, the „Chinese Uber,“ has long since surpassed its American role model. More than a hundred million active users, ten billion rides a year, and dozens of millions of drivers make Didi the largest provider of ride services in the world. A significant part of this is due to the company’s President Liu Qing (柳青), also known as Jean Liu. The 42-year-old Beijing native was born with business acumen: Her father, Liu Chuanzhi, founded Lenovo, one of the first successful Chinese technology companies – big shoes to fill, especially since women face many obstacles on their way to the top in China.
