Trust, says Sabrina Weithmann, is the basis for successful business relationships. Because this is still lacking in German-Chinese business relationships, she founded Weithmann Consulting, an independent network of interdisciplinary China experts who want to prepare German companies for the Chinese market. „Mistrust has to do with a lack of intercultural competence,“ Weithmann says, „people don’t understand the other culture, maybe they don’t even want to understand it.“ The results, she says, are negative stereotypes about „the Chinese“ and conflicts. The 33-year-old wants to change that with consultations as well as seminars and workshops. Because China is not only a risk but also an opportunity for German companies due to the huge market and the chances for international cooperation.
