Criticism of the influence of international tech companies over the development of Africa’s digital economy is growing. Senegalese data expert Seydina Moussa Ndiaye warned on the United Nations news blog of a renewed „colonization of Africa“ – this time in digital form. „Most of the data currently generated in Africa is owned by multinationals whose infrastructure is developed outside the continent, where most African AI experts also operate,“ said Ndiaye.
