Car sales continue to fall

Car sales fell for the fifth month in a row in September. Companies sold 19.6 percent fewer vehicles than at the beginning of the year, the industry association CAAM reported. A total of 2.07 million cars were delivered. The drop was mainly due to chip shortages, CAAM analyst Chen Shihua said. The power crisis in China also contributed to the shortage, he said. Both led to many carmakers having to temporarily shut down their plants, he said.
