Battery manufacturer CATL will start up its first European plant for lithium-ion cells near Arnstadt in Thuringia on Thursday. The Chinese company says it is investing up to 1.8 billion euros in the plant and creating about 2,000 jobs. Large-scale production is to be ramped up before the end of this year. From Arnstadt, all well-known European car manufacturers are to be supplied with cells or battery modules for their e-cars, announced CATL European President Matthias Zentgraf. flee
