How much is the forest?

China’s authorities have launched pilot programs to measure the value of the country’s forests. The background to this is the effort to create a measurement unit for „ecological services and products“ in addition to gross domestic product. Nature’s „services“ – for example, clean drinking water or storing carbon dioxide – are to be tracked in economic metrics.
