According to EU foreign affairs representative Josep Borrell, last week’s EU-China summit was more positive than the 2022 edition: „After the last EU-China summit in April 2022, I spoke of a dialog of the deaf. This time the tone was different. The meetings were honest, yet conducted in a spirit of openness,“ wrote Borrell in a blog post on Tuesday. At the meeting, „the entire spectrum of bilateral relations was covered“. Even in areas where there were differences of opinion. Borrell cited Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, the situation in the Taiwan Strait and the South China Sea, human rights issues and sanctions against MEPs as examples.
