Gigabyte also hit by boycott call

The Taiwanese graphics card manufacturer Gigabyte Technology faces calls for a boycott. This was triggered by a social media post by the company: It would rely on quality from Taiwan instead of sourcing „low quality at a cheap price“ from contract manufacturers in the People’s Republic. That turned out to be a strategic mistake by the company, which sells much of its computer gaming accessories in the People’s Republic: Major online retailers JD.com and Suning demonstratively took the brand out of stock.
