Hong Kong’s Chief Executive John Lee told journalists on Tuesday that the recent dismissal of Zheng Yanxiong was a „normal“ personnel change. Zheng had been the Director of the Chinese Liaison Office in Hong Kong – Beijing’s most important representative in the Special Administrative Region. The news of his „removal“ from office became public on late Friday. He will be succeeded by Zhou Ji, a senior official of the Hong Kong and Macao Affairs Office of the State Council.
