Military: China, Iran and Russia conduct naval drill

China, Russia and Iran have started joint naval drills in the Gulf of Oman, reports Asia Nikkei. The aim is to strengthen trust between the armed forces and promote cooperation, the Chinese Ministry of Defense announced on Monday.

The five-day „Security Belt 25“ drill included simulated attacks against maritime targets as well as joint search and rescue operations. According to the Russian agency Tass, 15 warships, supply ships and gunboats participated in the maneuvers. Observers from South Africa, Pakistan and Oman were also present.

The USA and Iran are currently once again clashing over Iran’s nuclear program. In an interview, Trump had previously urged Iran to negotiate on its nuclear program. Iran’s supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, initially rejected the negotiations. However, on X, Iran’s mission to the United Nations has now expressed its willingness to hold talks regarding the militarization of the nuclear program. ek
