Military threats from US President Donald Trump have resulted in a surprising development: The Chinese operator of two ports on the Panama Canal has handed over control of the terminals to a group of US financial investors. The company, part of Hong Kong billionaire Li Ka-Shing’s empire, announced on Tuesday that it was selling a majority stake in its port division to a consortium led by listed asset manager BlackRock.
