Pentagon: China will increase nuclear arsenal fivefold

The US government expects China to build around 800 more nuclear bombs by 2030. The country has about 200 warheads so far, according to the report. The country probably already has the „nuclear triad“ of air-, sea- and land-based nuclear weapons delivery systems, the US Department of Defense notes in an annual report on Chinese arms plans. The main goal, it says, is to maintain nuclear deterrence. In addition, the rapid modernization and digitization of China’s armed forces is noteworthy, it says. The systems are growing into a cohesive whole.
