Taiwan has detained a freighter after it severed an undersea cable. The Togo-registered vessel Hong Tai 58 was in the vicinity of the cable when it was cut, Taiwan’s coast guard said on Tuesday. „All eight crew members are Chinese nationals and (we) do not rule out the possibility of the Chinese activity of gray-zone harassment,“ the coast guard added. According to government circles, the case is being treated as a matter of national security.
