US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth has called China a key threat to the Asia-Pacific region at the Shangri-La Dialogue in Singapore. In particular, he warned of a possible Chinese attack on Taiwan – an escalation which, according to Hegseth, would have „devastating consequences for the Indo-Pacific and the world.“
