A paper submitted to Reuters for the two-day parliamentary party conference starting on Thursday reveals that the Social Democrats are calling for a massive expansion of customs controls and the abolition of the 150-euro duty-free limit. The background to this is that Chinese online platforms such as Temu and Shein are flooding the German market with 400,000 environmentally harmful and sometimes unhealthy products every day.
