That is changing: German mechanical engineering companies find themselves at the mercy of increasing competitive pressure from China worldwide. „The Chinese mechanical engineering industry is currently experiencing a new wave of ‘going global,’ which is characterized by higher quality and technologically advanced products at a comparatively low price,“ Karl Haeusgen, President of the German Mechanical Engineering Industry Association VDMA, told dpa. He went on to say that the weakening domestic demand in China was an additional factor driving a new wave of internationalization.
