Every kid in China has long known this finger gymnastics. 比心 bǐxīn – literally „gesturing/imitating a heart“ – is the name given to this pose, which has recently taken the photo-soaked smartphone age in the Middle Kingdom by storm. Here’s how it works: Place the tips of your thumb and index finger on top of each other, then slide your thumb out at an angle (like flicking) to create a little heart shape.
