The goals of the Paris Climate Agreement can hardly be achieved without the large-scale use of land-based carbon sinks. A recent report now warns that this could lead to widespread land grabbing, with serious consequences for the people in the affected regions. Jes Weigelt, Managing Director of TMG Think Tank for Sustainability and one of the authors of the paper, speaks of „a return of land grabbing – this time driven by carbon markets and climate targets.“
