Record heat and forest fires in tourist destinations: Weather extremes move people – but science has no evidence that this results in more support for climate action, says sociologist Eduardo Gresse. In this interview, he talks about what the German government is doing wrong in climate policy.

Mr. Gresse, in July, we experienced the hottest month since records began, and, for instance, on Rhodes, thousands of people had to be evacuated due to forest fires. Does this change the way Germans view climate action?
