Colombia, the host of the COP16 biodiversity summit currently taking place, is an important ally for the German government in international climate policy. This is why Germany is supporting the South American country in its planned phase-out of fossil fuels with many millions of euros. The aim is to phase out fossil fuels completely, but the success of this ambitious project is not guaranteed. Implementation, financing and acceptance raise questions.
