Even after the signing of the EU-Mercosur free trade agreement, environmental and human rights organizations continue to criticize the agreement. They fear that it will further exacerbate the climate crisis. In contrast, the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs hopes that free trade could further promote the climate-friendly restructuring of the economy. The final details are not yet known, but the Commission has announced that it will publish the entire agreement within a few days. It may be some time before the agreement is legally binding.
