Less than three weeks after the change of government, the first open dispute has arisen between the Ministry of Economic Affairs and the Ministry of the Environment. The reason for this is a statement made by Economics Minister Katherina Reiche (CDU) last Thursday in Brussels, which gave the impression that Germany would also be in favor of financing nuclear power projects from the EU budget in the future. Environment Minister Carsten Schneider (SPD) contradicted the statement in an unusually harsh manner on Friday, but on Monday, the Ministry of Economic Affairs officially rowed back and presented the comments as a misunderstanding.
