While the CDU/CSU and SPD want to boost prosperity in the country through more economic growth according to the coalition agreement, a panel of experts is calling for practically the opposite: The Energy Sufficiency Research Group (EnSu) is advocating a „sufficiency strategy“ and a move away from the fixation on growth. In a recent impulse paper, the group with experts from the Wuppertal Institute, Öko-Institut, and the University of Flensburg proposes that sufficiency policy should be given a binding strategic framework, similar to the national strategies for hydrogen or the circular economy.
