Suriname announces world’s first carbon trading with forest credits

International climate financing will play a crucial role at COP28. The first country has now announced that it will use forest carbon credits for this purpose. The South American country Suriname plans to sell carbon credits to other countries under the Paris Climate Agreement. However, critics warn that the planned rules are not strict enough for effective climate action.
