Donald Trump’s second term has brought chaos to US environmental and climate policy. The White House has repealed regulations, declared a „national energy emergency“ to accelerate fossil fuel production, frozen funding for renewable energy, scrubbed the words „climate change“ from government websites and laid off thousands of government employees. Among them are 200 staff positions at the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), which handles hurricanes and wildfire relief.
