Companies in the agrifood sector are not doing enough to achieve climate targets. In particular, there are not enough efforts to reduce methane emissions. This is the result of a recent analysis of the Corporate Climate Responsibility Monitor by Carbon Market Watch and the New Climate Institute. The five food companies Danone, JBS, Mars, Nestlé, and PepsiCo were examined. According to the report, the companies focus too much on CO₂ removal and too little on reducing emissions. The analysis rates the integrity of Danone’s climate strategy as moderate, that of Mars and Nestlé as poor, and that of JBS and PepsiCo as very poor.
