Brazil’s internationally networked conservatives and representatives of the influential agricultural sector have announced two counter-summits on the occasion of the upcoming COP30 in Belém. The first will be an agricultural conference on Oct. 3-4 in the city of Marabá in the state of Pará, organized by the Association of Independent Rural Producers of the Amazon (APRIA), which was founded at the end of last year. Immediately before COP30 begins on Nov. 10, a Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) based on the US model is to take place in Manaus, the capital of the state of Amazonas. Eduardo Bolsonaro is involved in its organization. The son of former President Jair Bolsonaro is currently in the US without a return date – it is unclear what this means for the conference.
