To make Germany more resilient to heat and to raise public awareness of the risks, a broad alliance of institutions and associations has called for binding protective measures. According to the initiators’ list of demands, which includes the German Medical Association, the German Hospital Association and the German Nursing Council, these must be implemented locally and financially supported by the federal and state governments. On the occasion of the Heat Action Day on Wednesday, they also call for investments to take climate change adaptation into account and for heat to be integrated as a major challenge in disaster prevention.
