The UK has, for the first time, approved a large-scale floating offshore wind project – and submitted a comparatively ambitious Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC).

The NDCs submitted by the UN member states so far could reduce greenhouse gas emissions by a mere 1.4 gigatons by 2035 – compared to the previous plans for 2030. According to the NDC Tracker of the World Resources Institute (WRI), only 22 countries, in addition to the US, the UK, and Brazil, have submitted their plans for 2035. Together, they account for 21 percent of emitters.
