Last week, Scotland’s government announced that it would scrap the 2030 climate target entirely. Previously, the target was to reduce emissions by 75 percent compared to 1990 levels. The annual emissions targets will also be abandoned. They will be replaced by so-called „carbon budgets,“ in which only a fixed amount of emissions is set every five years.
