New figures from the Federal Environment Agency show that the energy transition is being driven primarily by the expansion of PV systems and heat pumps. In the transport sector, on the other hand, development is declining.

In 2024, electricity generation from renewables increased by three percent to a total of 284 terawatt hours. According to an analysis by the German Federal Environment Agency (UBA), the share of renewable energies in gross electricity consumption, which increased by one percent in the previous year, rose from 52.9% to 54.4%.
