South Africa has high renewable goals

Around 66 gigawatts (GW) of wind and solar projects are at various stages of development in South Africa, with some 18 GW already at an advanced stage. This means that the necessary environmental permits have been obtained and feasibility studies have been conducted. This is the conclusion of the „2023 South African Renewable Energy Grid Survey“ by power utility Eskom and the South African wind and photovoltaic associations.
