The donor countries want to increase the World Bank Fund for the poorest countries by 100 billion US dollars. The record sum for the three-year replenishment of the fund will provide important support in the fight against debt, climate catastrophes, inflation, and conflicts in the Global South. The World Bank made the announcement on Friday in Seoul at a donor conference for the International Development Association (IDA), which provides grants and very low-interest loans to 78 low-income countries. The last IDA replenishment in December 2021 provided USD 93 billion.
