Turkish President Recep Erdoğan is further expanding the country’s autocracy. At the same time, Turkey is becoming increasingly important to NATO, and the alliance’s Secretary General is campaigning for an expansion of relations.

At the NATO summits of the past two years, Turkey was the black sheep that stood in the way of enlarging the alliance. In The Hague, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is likely to be courted by his counterparts.
