In addition to money, Ukraine primarily needs skilled workers for reconstruction. But there is a shortage of those.

It is not only Russian missiles that are deterring German companies from investing in Ukraine. A major problem is the lack of workers. A German-Ukrainian alliance is supposed to help combat this. However, the largest Ukrainian employers’ association considers the initiative to be misguided.

Ukraine is seeking investment. The state and private, domestic companies lack the capital to keep their own economy and arms industry running – and, above all, to become less dependent on Western military supplies. „I appeal to companies not to wait until the end of the war to invest in Ukraine. Start now„, said Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba at the Ukraine Reconstruction Conference last week.
